Pastor Bucky Rogers
Bucky grew up in a small town in the United States in the state of Tennessee. He was saved at the age of 17 and felt called to be a pastor at age 19. When he was 20, he married Julie, the love of his life, and they began their life together.
While in seminary, God began to move in Bucky and Julie's hearts to adopt. They had no money or knowledge of the process, and at one time had decided that they were not going to have kids. God changed all that. 5 adoptions later, they have Sasha (19 years old) who they adopted from Ukraine, Innocent(15 years old) who they adopted from Uganda, Xan(10 years old) who they adopted from Guatemala, Brennan (8 years old) who they adopted from the US, and Becca(6 years old) who they adopted from China. They always knew that God was preparing them to help orphaned and otherwise neglected and vulnerable children and families, and kept their hearts open for God to speak to them about when, where, and how. |
In 2014, after several trips to Uganda, Bucky and Julie knew this is where God was calling them to plant their lives. Bucky was a pastor at a large and healthy church in South Carolina at the time, and their lives could not have been better. They had a church family that loved them, a nice home, friends and family all around, and a comfortable life. But they knew it wasn't home.
In early 2015 they began preparations to move to Uganda to establish a church, and through that church, to launch Benjamin House Ministries in Uganda. The purpose of Benjamin House would be to restore families, care for orphaned and neglected children by preparing them for a bright future, and raise up the next generation of pastors and leaders. In March 2016, they made the big move and began preparations to launch the House Church, which launched on June 26th, 2016. |
Musumba Bucky has 2 primary passions: 1)Faithfully teaching and preaching the Word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and without any mixture of human tradition or bias, and 2)Raising up the next generation of Christ-Followers to make an impact in their world.
Because of these passions, the House Church will be centered on the Word of God, authentic and powerful worship, deep discipleship, challenging accountability, ministry to youth and children that will impact the future, and a strong focus on serving this community and nation. "We will never compromise on the truth of the Word of God. There are many things in the life of a church that can be flexible...that can change based on the culture you're in, but preaching the Word is not one of those things. It will be central to everything we do. I believe there are generations of people who have been hurt by the Church. They've been told that all they need to do is believe and they'll be healed, they'll have all the money they need, and the favor of God will rest on them. The problem is that isn' t what Scripture teaches. God alone determines life and death, and His provision isn't always physical. Faith is driven by love, not by a desire to have your needs met. We're a different kind of church...give it a try, and see if your perspective doesn't change." -Bucky |
