Why Give?Giving isn't about guilt.
God doesn't need your money. It's not about you at all. God will accomplish His purposes, and He desires for His people to be involved in that great task. One act of obedience he asks of us is to give. He calls us to give: 1. Regularly 1 Corinthians 16:2 says, “On the first day of each week , you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once.” 2. Proportionally 10% of our income, also called "tithing" Matthew 23:23 says, “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law – justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.” 3. Sacrificially Mark 12:43-44, “Jesus called his disciples to him and said, ‘I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.’” 4. Cheerfully 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says, “Remember this – a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your own heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” |
How to GiveThere are 2 primary ways to give at the House: 1) Give during our regular weekly services. Each Sunday morning, we will receive an offering. You're not "paying" for the church service or the preaching. As the offering bags go by, simply put your offering inside the bag. If you'd like us to keep record of your giving to send you at the end of each year, simply put it in an envelope and write your name on the outside of the envelope, then put in the offering bag. 2) Give during the week by stopping by the church office during office hours. God's call for us to tithe doesn't take a break for the week if you happen to have to miss the service. Special Note: Pastor Bucky does not take a salary, facilitation, reimbursement, stipend, or any other type of financial gift from the House Church. He gives sacrificially of his own resources to the church, not from it. He believes that God is big enough to take care of him without having to take from the offering. This allows us to use the money given for more ministry. |
Giving your Time and Talent
We believe that the House belongs to every member. As such, we expect every member to have an area of service. Maybe you come once a week to clean the church. Maybe you serve with the Media Team or teaching children or youth. Maybe you lead a home based small group. Whatever your gifting, there is a place of service for you at the House. After all, its YOUR church. Make it great.
